-Help reduce your Carbon footprint-
Here are a few easy and achievable ways you can reduce your carbon footprint:
•Switch out to LED lightbulbs. They use 95% less energy than incandescent light bulbs. Less energy means reduction in demand of power plants and there’s a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. Plus they last YEARS longer.
•Stop buying products containing palm oil. Deforestation, and the greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere because of deforestation, are 25-30% of global warming. It is also leaving so many animals homeless because of the forests being destroyed. Trees are good! They give us clean air!
• Reduce your meat intake. Relax- I’m not telling you to go full veg- but cutting down meat consumption to maybe 1-2 days a week Vs with every meal will not only have an impact on the planet, but also on your personal health. Globally, animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world’s transportation systems combined.
• Vote! Make it a priority to vote in leaders who make global warming a priority to fix!
• Reduce or remove purchasing products containing plastics. It can take 450 years to decompose a plastic water bottle. What??? Snag a reusable water bottle and refill! Bring reusable bags to the store and eliminate plastic bags all together.
•Use planet friendly sunscreens. The chemicals in regular sunscreen entering the ocean, is one of the contributors to the coral reef dying. Coral is important! About half of all photosynthesis on earth is done by microorganisms in the oceans known as phytoplankton. Coral produces this, therefore giving us humans cleaner air.
The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. We have 12 years to improve this planet or we will reach a point of no return. PLEASE do your part in helping this planet thrive!! 🌎🌵🌲🌊
